WALK THE TALK – The Path to Motivation & Success

help3Usually when we experience challenges or persistent problems we seek help, guidance and counsel.  If we talk to professionals or a counselor, they target the way we think and understand.  This focus is the reason that talking and therapists typically fail to deliver the results we seek.  After all, as much as we’d like to credit intelligence for changing behaviors, that is not the real driver of our actions.

energy head3Since the brain is the control center of our body, it’s understandable that we have this cerebral fixation.  From early psychoanalysis to the popular cognitive behavioral approach, the pursuit of insights and reasoning dominates talking.  Even parents, managers and friends emphasize information, knowledge and advice to solve situations.

obesitycrisis newspaperDoes anyone comprehend the colossal casualties that occur when sticking to this “change your thinking” mandate?  Take our obesity epidemic.  There are more books written on the topic of weight loss than any other subject on the planet each and every year!  From doctors to trainers to gurus…  They all give us information, direction and sure-fire answers in an effort to increase our smarts, change bad habits and follow a healthier lifestyle.  Yet each year the size of obesity nationwide increases.

Divorce, depression, suicide, violence…  These are just a sampling of the problems that escalate every year in spite of talking, books and abundant prevention and therapeutic resources.

Talk, learn and change.  This is the traditional go-to method for dealing with behaviors, conflicts and communication breakdowns.   Unfortunately, dispensing information, direction and solutions doesn’t seem to be working.

As a consultant of 25 years to over 100 different businesses, school districts, government agencies and mental health facilities – I have had the opportunity to develop an approach for enhancing talk and therapies so better behaviors result.

Feelings3What’s been missing in our attempt to communicate resolutions through reasoning is the real driver of thoughts, attitudes and behaviors.  FEELINGS!  Sure we may talk about how we feel but that doesn’t motivate change or improvements.  Especially when toxic feelings keep reoccurring.

MOVVE™ is the procedure I use to transition unwanted feelings into more positive emotions.  After all, feelings are what we sense, yet emotions are what we express.

MOVVE™ structures emotionally intelligent resources that motivate the pursuit and achievement of productive goals.  Parents, managers and therapists gain specific communication practices to MOVVE™ others past negative feelings and into becoming that better version of themselves.

You absolutely nailed it! Counselors may listen attentively and may make a wonderful diagnosis. Yet they provide so little relief with little lasting change.

If they could harness the energy behind those negative feelings, therapy might attract those who really need it.
